Osu, What Made You Choose Shotokan?

At first I avoided it since I only trained in a non-Tma Shotokan hybrid years ago, and my cousin was JKA TMA Shotokan and he never liked it, nor seemed to be a good martial artist. But now I'm training in TMA Shotokan through the SKIF and I appreciate the power, evasiveness, and tradition and beauty of it.

Actualy, I cannot consider any MA as TMA, as each had evlolved, they too disgarded previous trads.

because the dojo is near to my house.

I was a Shotokan karateka under the INKAI (Institute Karatedo Indonesia) dojo which is Shotokan style. The dojo was only 100m from my house but now they have moved to another place.

In 1998 I got an accident an broke my hips and take a long times rest.

after that I rejoined again in Gokasi (Gojuryu Karate Shimbukan Indonesia) in 2000 until now.

I started because my swimming coach was doing it - two years he urged me to come and have a look - eventually i did and here we are 40 years later! i owe him so much and wasted two years IMHO
