Superenpi, is that a new comic super hero? Just kidding.

You will find a wealth of great videos at www.wadokai.co.uk

There is everything there.

Hi Trevor

Nice to see you on here. Not seen you for a few years now?

I am not so sure about the versions Gordon and Shep have pointed you to I think they were taking the ####! Its what Gary Swift must have seen Hakoishi sensei teaching when he did the big course in Reading a few years back. Hakoishi sensei's suparinpei is pretty much the same pattern as Shitokai Suparinpei which you can find easily on youtube.

Also, someone else recently posted a clip on this forum of an Italian person doing Suparinpei they'd learned from Yamashita. That is the other version which some people train - Kono for example, presents that version in one of his books.

For the ultimate performance, you can't beat Higoanna's version with a Dennis Waterman voiceover - I think its near the end of the show:

Edit2: this is better, 7mins in:

Its not wado, but at least you have the Wado for the intro courtesy of Suzuki, Sakagami and Sugasawa.

Enjoy!

Oh no not Superinpei again. I must remind myself,…. are we talking about the ‘lost kata of Wado’?

I know I have it here somewhere, it’s in a drawer next to Jiin, or maybe it was hidden underneath Jihan? I only saw it the other day when I was looking for Channan.

D’yknow, I get so forgetful these days.

I wasn't taking the mick really as depending on your level and how deep you want to go that website may be of use.

I found it useful to revisit the sanbon kumite and ohyo kumite as an aide memoir.

I know how hard it is to get even one video done and they have loads there! wink.gif

No, not yet. Do you want one?

Personally I wouldn't know where to start.

I have never even heard of Jihan. I wondered if it was cockney ryming slang when you wrote Jiin & Jihan.

I know this isn't suparinpei but in the interests of sharing, here is a nice clip of seishan, very nice movement for the second half especially:

Hi Ben
I saw that clip the other day. I was very impressed. Nicely performed kata, clean crisp moves.

As Kenkyukai will attest to, when we trained with Hakoishi in Germany, he admitted he couldn't remember it, and that he would rather teach us Kushanku – fine by me.

The crowd however were determined to "crow-bar" it out of him which happened - (with the help of Christina Gutz who did her best to demonstrate her understanding of the kata), but I don't think we got any real training in it if I am being honest.

I have seen footage of Takamasa Arakawa do what I would consider a "Wado-fied" version of what is ostensibly a Goju kata (as far as I understand it) - don't know where he got it from - presumably Takagi?

Kusotare will no doubt be able to shed some light in this?

Either way, to me it seemed like a waste of valuable training time, which, is probably what Hakoishi was trying get across.

I shot that footage.
Takagi doesn't know or do Suparimpei.

Arakawa didn't really want me to tell people where he learned it from but I am sure Blackcat can guess.

Hakoishi Sensei just temporarily forgot. It happens.
