Who is your favourite and most educational shotokan instructor - let us know - doesn't need to be a 'name' or famous.

Maybe you should get the ball rolling by answering your own question?

I would have to say Enoeda. What a great man. I got my 1st Dan under him in 1978 at Crystal Palace and had the honour of training with him many times, shame he is gone. But have trained with a lot of the very best in that style, Andy Sherry (took all my kyu grades with him in Exeter) Frank Brennen and Terry O'Niel, again a great guy, very funny as well. Aah, just talking about them here takes me back I can tell you, good times.

maybe you should chill out HAHA! twas just a question you don't need to answer. Do we have to give an answer if we ask a question - meaning 'What's your favourite colour? - mine is green!

I was simply asking. but for me i have had the privilege of training with many and have no favourites but would have to place Steve Cattle, Ticky Donovan and Dave Hazard as being exceptionally good Instructors IMHO

IMHO

A thread could be started with a question and does not have to be answered within the same post from the thread starter. The ball was rolling with said question and thread opening.

This said, responses could be a name and really doesn't have to include a essay of why.

the reason i posed the question is that i believe forums are a marvelous way for us to share info - especially so in terms of identifying quality instruction that we can all seek out. even the international aspect of forums doesn't matter because many top Instructors travel internationally now as do many karateka.

Sometimes an Instructor you are unfamiliar with may be in your neck of the woods and it can be helpful to know they are well thought of in their teaching ability.

and Katafreak - the chill out comment was followed with HAHA - twas only a jest honest sad.gif

Of course. I understood the thread intention. The internet makes it difficult at times to convey or understand the message

No sure about the white/grey distinction, but does age play a role on a favorite instructor?

I never practice under Shotokan famous sensei. I wish that I could trained under shihan Hirokazu Kanazawa but its impossible at the present time. He's now 80 years old. What does his activity at the present time?

I read in an article at http://www.fightingmaster.com/legends/kanazawa/index.htm and I never realize that he got promotion to 10th Dan in Bali, Indonesia.
